9 Scenic German Castles That Will Take You on an Amazing JourneyLike4

From manor houses to military forts, Germany is full of exquisite architecture, history, and of course, German castles. There’s nothing more attractive to a tourist than spectacular castles of various shapes and sizes that were once a symbol of power and opulence. Thankfully, there are over 20,000 spellbinding castles scattered all over Germany. You certainly haven’t lived until you’ve experienced your childhood fantasy of walking the castle halls or experienced the romantic fantasy chambers of a king and queen’s chamber. So, don’t let the opportunity pass you by to visit one of these breathtaking structures while you’re visiting the beautiful Deutschland nation

Burg Eltz Castle

Owned by a single family for 33 generations, it’s one of 3 castles that hasn’t been destroyed or re-built since Medieval Times. The 45-minute hike from the train station will allow you to explore the enchanted forest and let your medieval dreams come true as you head into the castle.

Neuschwanstein Castle

King Ludwig II of Bavaria had the castle constructed as a private retreat, but after his death in 1886, it was opened to the public, drawing people from all over the world, including Walt Disney, who modeled Sleeping Beauty’s castle after it. A visit to this wonderful historic castle will definitely re-spark the fire in your life.

Wartburg Castle

Step into one of the most historic castles where Martin Luther translated the New Testament between 1521 and 1522. It’s within walking distance of the beautiful Thuringian forest and the town of Eisenach and is one of Germany’s biggest tourist attractions.

Glucksburg Castle

Take a guided tour of the interior, which can take several hours, but is the ideal tour for history enthusiasts looking to get enthralled by the wonderful past of this magnificent water castle. You can also take in the view of the man-made lake surrounding the structure, which was once home of the Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg in the late 1500s. You will absolutely love the old jail, the old torture devices and so much more.

Schwerin Castle

Explore the lovely inlaid wooden floors and decorated ceilings where dukes and nobles have walked back when it was built in 1857. You can get lost in this big beautiful castle, but beware of the ghost, Petermannchen, who is said to be short, but is dedicated to guarding the castle from evil doers, as common legend has it.

Hohenzollern Castle

Although the German monarchy was abolished after World War I, there are still a number of artifacts that remain, including Kaiser Wilhelm II’s crown, and the buried remains of the royal family in the castle’s cemetery. The walk from the entrance gate to the actual castle will make you feel like you’ve slipped into a J.R.R. Tolkien novel.

Wernigerode Castle

Deemed a 12th century hunting lodge for royalty, it was turned into a castle in the Middle Ages, and was renovated with Romanesque features in the 19th century.  But it’s so massive you’ll need to take two guided tours to explore each side of the castle. But it’s worth it for the view of the town and mountains. You might even feel a bit like Rapunzel.

Schloss Nordkirchen

It’s considered the Versailles of Germany and is surrounded by a moat-like canal, which was once strategic but now only elevates the elegance of this fortress. You can also eat like royalty at the castle’s restaurant and enjoy the local cuisine in sheer extravagance. You can even rent the Schloss chapel and have a wedding.

Heidelberg Castle

It barely survived the War of the Grand Alliance in the 17th century, but the 19th century’s Romantic period revitalized this castle, whose historic chambers attract millions every year. It’s one of the most iconic Renaissance structures in the area. Enjoy the castle illuminations, where the walls are bathed in red lights simulating the fire that consumed it in 1764 after a lightning strike.

We will be traveling from Aarhus Denmark to Naumburg German by train and would love to stop to visit a castle along the way- could you please recommend a place to stop along the route that would have accommodations and easy access to a castle visit. Thank you!

  • You loved her because you saw all her magic... she loved you because you reminded her of it when she’s forgotten it... 💫
  • We just had a long 3 day weekend in the UAE and I LOVED it!
I’m thinking of starting a global petition where we can have 3 day weekend all over the world!
What do you think? Wouldn’t you LOVE a 3 day weekend!?
  • Truth: I’ve come to terms a long time ago that, if you are not motivating me, praying for me, loving me, inspiring me or trying to build with me... then, you are a distraction.
For a long time I’ve felt the pressure of social media and I’ve learnt to deal with it.
We live in a society that is continuously looking for happiness, dreams and goals out there for the next best thing to feel ‘happiness’ and ‘social acceptance’ but, we seem to forget that we are ALIVE, and that is all we need right now.
If you agree leave a ♥️. Thank you for being with me throughout all these years.
  • Right this second, where I am... and where I want to be and it’s f*** incredible ♥️

  • Are you a beach person or a mysterious desert lover?? I have to admit I love the beach but the desert has its own magic too! 😊
Back in the desert 🌵 and it’s hot but I can’t wait for the weather to start cooling off here! Which one do you love more?
  • What’s your favorite animal? Mine is the elephant.
Those who know me well, know how I constantly talk about the dark side to elephant tourism that many people just don’t seem to be aware of… but you need to know this!
Elephants are endangered species and should be in the wild, and the ONLY way to ride an elephant is by taming it with a process which is called Phajaan, or “the crush”.
It involves ripping baby elephants away from their mothers and confining them in a very small space, like a cage or hole in the ground where they’re unable to move with them tied down. Check it out on YouTube.
So please don’t ride elephants, at any cost, ride bicycles instead.

May the power of a thousand elephants give you the strength to face the troubles ahead. ♥️
  • I’m curious to know... Where is the best sunset you’ve ever seen? ♥️
  • People always say: “Make sure you get a job doing what you love!’’ But that isn’t the best advice.
The right job is the job you love some days, can tolerate most days, and still pays the bills. Almost nobody has a job they love every single day and that is ok because that’s what it means to be human ♥️ #infinitilebanon #Q30
  • Believe me, with the crazy errands I’m running around for today, I wouldn’t mind dropping it all and being back here where my only concern would be tan lines 😊 Who is with me? 😊
Happy Friday!! ❤️
  • Leaving Lebanon is never easy. Thank you for those with insane magic in them, those who danced through the nights till the mornings with me, those who took road trips with me, those who loved me, those who ate ice cream with me every day, those who made efforts to see me, those who competed with me for the best tan lines and for those friends who always were undeniably themselves with me. You know who you are ♥️🇱🇧
