A Diary in Tokyo

Destination Tokyo – A whole different world

I have always wanted to visit Japan during the cherry blossom season which is in April, however while planning a trip in October, myself and my husband decided to go to Japan during that month as it is one of our dream destinations.

Stayed in The Capitol Hotel Tokyo

I must say it was the best hotel I’ve been to, our room was on the 25th floor we had the most amazing view which we woke up to every morning. The neighborhood was quiet; the design of the hotel was minimalist & modern, super clean, and spacious. Excellent concierge service, best part was it had the metro just under the hotel and of course it had a Starbucks!

Month October

In your suitcase  When we went, the temperature was around 21 degrees, so it was chilly.  I packed pants, tops, sweaters, ballerinas, boots, and scarves.

Dined at

This is a tough one, everyday I had the best meal.  But, if I were to choose the best one with good food, presentation, ambiance and staff, I’ll vote for “NINJA RESTAURANT

When we first asked the concierge to book us there for dinner she laughed and said “ it is such an experience” , We got a bit lost trying to find it , especially that everything is written in Japanese over there , so when we finally found it . we were greeted by a ninja who walked us through the low ceilings for the real ninja experience, all dining tables are private rooms, so my husband and I sat in the private room and if we needed anything we would call the ninja waiter by clicking a button, we decided to go for the SET MENU so that we could experience new food. The service was the impeccable; we almost felt the waiter was only working for us. Every dish that was served was better that the one before and once we finished our main course, a magician came for some entertainment, lets just say , I’m still thinking about the tricks he did , once we finished the dessert and paid the bill , our ninja waiter walked us out to the door and while we walked away , she called us to look back and she was holding a sign that said “ Maa Al Salama” cause she knew were Lebanese…CUTE!

Shopped at The beauty about shopping in TOKYO is that they have a lot of local designers, so I enjoyed the shopping. All the high end brands are found in Tokyo in streets such as Ginza & Omotesando Hills, but I enjoyed shopping from all the local Japanese stores as we do not have them in Dubai.

Diary

Every morning we would wake up and have breakfast in the hotel, then meet with the concierge desk and plan out our entire day and at 10 am we would start our activities.

Japanese are extremely friendly, if they sense that you are lost, they would approach you and offer help.

We used the metro everywhere; it was extremely easy if you have the English map. We visited Shrines, Shopping Malls, Gardens, many shopping streets, touristic attractions etc…

The beauty of Tokyo is that you never get bored, there is always something to do, just walking in the streets is entertainment itself, the technology over there is out of this world, the fashion on the street is something you’ve never seen before, and the food is so good. Using the metro during rush hour is quite a funny experience!

Restaurants to visit

Gonpachi – (Dinner) Japanese Restaurant also famous for shooting a scene of Kill Bill.

Inakaya – Japanese Restaurant (Dinner) – Good food and you can watch them cook live

Robot Restaurant – The food is not that good, but you must go for the show.

Sasano Restaurant – (Dinner) Great food & atmosphere

Mitsukoshi Mall in Ginza – (Lunch) go to the top floor all the restaurant are so yummy.

Try out the best chocolate Croissant in Choco-cro ( it’s a coffee shop in almost every corner we use to have two a day )

Where to go

Ginza Street (experience it during the day and night)

Omotessando hills: Great to High end shopping

Roppopongi Hills: Go to the Mori Museum, then go on top of the tower for the 360 View .

Shibuya & Shinjuku  (Great for Shopping and food , experience it during the day & night),

Harajuku ,Takeshita, and Meiji Shrine ( For Shopping , and sightseeing)

Odaiba (spend half a day in that area)

New Tokyo Tower & Shopping center next to it

Ueno Zoo: Seriously the best zoo I’ve visited so far, they have all the animals possible on this earth!

Sumo Wrestling ( Only available during specific seasons )

They have the best bakeries in the world; it puts Paris to shame, so eat as much as impossible cake, and pastries

Tips Try to avoid taxis as much as you can, they are UN-NECESSARILY pricey.

Mode of Travel Emirates Airlines, it was great because it was a direct flight . Make sure to land in HANEDA AIRPORT, its 15 minutes away from the city.

  • I’ve been in limbo with my photography and experiencing some sort of a creative block.
The digital world can either inspire you or exhaust you from repeatedly the same quotes, topic of conversations, images, style, colors, places, food etc.
I’ve promised myself since the very start, not to fall into a trap of measuring & using my passion for photography based on the number of likes and comments on Instagram, but instead, to shoot, post, open my heart and soul through challenging myself to be more creative through my lens and be more of myself, in between dreams and reality and most importantly, for the feeling to be real...
As creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes, Art is knowing which ones to keep... So bare with me a little until I find myself again...
  • The trips we host on @travelwithtjd on our polar journeys for the past years has been one of the most exciting experiences of my life and I’m so incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned, experiences, felt, seen and for the people I’ve met on our trips!

  • Lebanon in summer is all about exploring. Found this new hip beach bar on the coast of Byblos. The graffiti on the wall, the hanging hammocks in the water and the vibe, makes this place one of the cutest beach clubs I’ve seen so far. I love my beautiful home 🇱🇧
  • The last time I switched my laptop on was 5 days ago. The last time that happened was exactly a year ago. My phone is most of the time misplaced far away from me, my camera is still in my bag, my mind is switched off and I’m surrounded with love 💕and music 🎶. So happy to be back in Lebanon on my official summer break.
  • Home sweetest home ❤️
  • I love the the 3 AM version of people... Honest, vulnerable and real.
  • I have some sort of mental block this morning... which is a good thing so... Happy Thursday ☀️
  • This is a (long) thank you post... To my teachers.
Thank you for showing me my true strength... Not only physical strength, but more importantly mental strength.
Thank you for allowing me to let go... Whenever I feel I need a break from the world, your shala is the first place I run to... and when I’m away, it’s the first place I think of when I practice on my own, miles away. The sound of my breathing alone, takes me back to the exact spot where I place my mat... and I’m fully transported back to the stillness and awareness.
Thank you for giving me a safe place to seek connection & allowing me to breathe... when I’m at my most vulnerable, you’ve made it ok for my tears to roll down my face in Savasana or during a posture, open up and just be me without any judgement.
Thank you for offering so much of yourself to allow me to grow through my practice... Thank you for teaching me the true meaning of yoga, how to practice not only on the mat, but off the mat too... Yoga is a natural state of mind and not whether or not you can touch your toes.
The light in me honors the light in you. Happy New moon

  • I’m still going through the photos I’ve taken during my trip to Menorca. Still can’t believe how beautiful the island is!
  • Last couple of days at work before heading back home 🇱🇧. What are your summer plans? Anything exciting?
  • Your memory feels like home to me.
So whenever my mind wanders, it always finds its way back to you 💫
  • Someone at work asked me the other day what my goals were... I told them to be happy. To be really really really F**** happy. What’s yours?
