KLM Royal Dutch Airlines seemed to have nailed this one! For those who always dreamed of living on a plane and love airports, (Like myself)!
Yes, they turned an airplane parked at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam into an apartment with two bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, Wi-Fi and a panoramic view from the cockpit. Pretty sweet, right? It’s the closest any of us can come to being Elvis without abusing Percodan. (It’s also a step up from Airbnb’s Ikea listing.)
Kids friendly, Kitchen, Internet, Buzz com, aircondition, heating, TV, Shower, breakfast, fire extinguisher and first aid kit are the listings on the plane!
“On November 28, 29 or 30, you have the chance to spend the night inside this fly apartment. Tell us before November 20 why you would like to spend the night. We’ll fly in the winners from anywhere in the world,” the listing says.
Spend one night in a real KLM airplane on Nov 28/29/30! To participate in this contest click ‘CONTACT HOST‘ (NOT ‘request to book’), pick any date and tell us why and with whom you would like to come (in English – max 100 words).
However, like all Airbnb listings, the Airplane Apartment has some house rules. Here’s what they are, as taken from their Airbnb listing page:
• No flying.
• Don’t use the inflatable emergency slide.
• Smoking is not allowed when the non-smoking sign is on.
• No marshmallow roasting with the jet engines.
• Please water our plants and feed our fish.
• The consumption of alcohol is not allowed.
• Please treat our plane like you treat your own plane.
Cause that’s exactly what we want to do…roast marshmallows with jet engines (You hear that adventurati?) And how are we ever not going to use the inflatable emergency sliders? What if there was a fire when we are roasting our marshmallows?
Bravo KLM! Fun idea and a great PR initiative!
