Your Destination Guide to Uluwatu in BaliLike2

Bali is one of the greatest travel destination in Asia. The land of gods has had us return year after year for more. When you think you’ve explored almost everything there is to know about Bali. The island surprises you and sends you somewhere special.

It has been a great journey, experiencing a myriad of different life experiences in Bali. Is it a coincidence that we keep returning to Bali when we crave balance or a new change in our life?

Your destination guide to Uluwatu is one of the greatest places to be.  It has preserved it’s gem and cleanliness and has attracted many luxury hotel owners to open in the area. Uluwatu is for those who are looking for a different kind of adventure, more peace, silence and a hell of a view! We stayed 3 nights at The Ungasan Clifftop Resort – (Finally ticked it off the bucket list!) and spent our days at Sundays Beach Club (formerly known as Finns Club).

This is where you need to be in Bali.

Where to stay in Uluwatu

The Ungasan Clifftop Resort

After desperately having tried many times to book here (It’s almost always fully booked!) We managed to set 3 nights at the newly launched clifftop resort, The Ungasan.

Uluwatu is small village on the west coast, south of Jimbaran. Depending on traffic, it is a 45 minute drive from the airport. Mostly hill cliffs luxury hotels are situated here. Breathtaking views and very much less commercial that Jimbaran, Seminyak and even Ubud. The Ungasan is a place for fairy tales. To those who believe in them. It is a place with higher forces because of the sea view from top, you are vulnerable to the energy and the beauty.

7 villas and 4 suites occupy the property with the popular Sunday’s Beach club.

What to do in Uluwatu

Sundays Beach Club

We considered ourselves extremely lucky to have stayed in The Ungasan Clifftop. One of the greatest memories of Bali was at Sunday’s Beach Club (Former Finn’s Club). The private beach is open complimentary for guests staying at the property and outside guests are welcomed at a fee. Spend the day doing water sports activities, snorkeled and when the sun started to set, a bond fire is lit every night at 6:30pm where everyone gathers around in the bean bag or day beds listening to a vocalist playing the best soft rock music! Sunday’s Beach Club is one of the few places that really allowed us to see Bali in a whole new different way.

Insider’s tip: When hide tide, you will be able to use the property’s infinity pool!

Open from: 9am to 10pm Daily | Daily Pass: Adult 300,00 RP – Children (3-11) 50,000 RP  | Contact: [email protected]   +61 361 848 2111

Uluwatu Temple

Name of Uluwatu was come from the word Ulu meaning the head & Watu meaning stone. So, Uluwatu Temple mean the temple built in tip of coral reef. The island of Gods is known for the number temples there are. Uluwatu is one of the most visited temples in Asia and one of the greatest views and landscapes.

People come here to witness the strangely energetic kecak performance – Bali’s famous “monkey dance.”

Insider tip: Make sure you either go at sunrise ( Not so great for photography since the cliff will cast a shadow on the sea, but you beat the crowd) or at sunset, It’s one of the greatest places to watch the sunset!

Explore hidden beaches

Bali’s hidden gems are the hidden beaches. Every season, a new one is explored. Visit Blue Point Beach and surf at Padang Padang Beach.

Have Drinks at Rock-bar

During my 4 visits to Bali, Rock Bar at Ayana Resort & Spa is always part of the itinerary! One of the greatest cocktails in Bali and the best calamari fritti!

The Rock Bar

Dine in JU-MA-NA Restaurant & Bar

Located in Banyan Tree, JU-MA-NA is one of these places where you either love it or don’t. The view is incredible and the food too! Make sure you get there early to sit outside for drinks then enjoy your dinner inside!

Donate to Bali Life

Visit the Bali Life Foundation center. Providing basic needs to the unprivileged community, Bali Life Foundation is a registered NGO programmed for children that come from abuse, homeless and poverty since 2006.  Get in touch if you would like to donate clothes (boys and girls), medicine, school supplies, toiletries, etc. We work hand in hand in providing and helping them. Stay tuned for a more detailed article on how you can help us provide the basic needs for these kids in Bali.

  • Day 10: Sailing for two weeks across the Balkans/Dalmatia - I'm feeling so far away from everything... The scariest thing about distance... is that you don’t know whether they’ll miss you or forget you when you're gone.
It's bittersweet 💕

'It is simple,' she said. 'The thing is, it's also a lot of hard work. And people don't want to put in a lot of work. But I didn't get here simply by wishing for it.'
